Cancer Screenings
Breast cancer is the most common gynecological cancer. Breast cancer screening is done by breast examination, mammography, and breast ultrasound. Cervical cancer comes in the next frequency, and vaginal smear test is still a valid and inexpensive method for screening. Other methods include colposcopy and HPV tests. In the screening of uterine cancer, the evaluation of the thickness and structure of the uterine membrane by ultrasonography is at the forefront. But irregular bleeding is always a guide. In the screening of ovarian cancer, the determination of CEA, CA125, CA199, CA153 and some other tumor markers in the blood together with ovarian ultrasound can be a guide. Another non-gynecological but common cancer in women is cancer of the large intestine (colon) and occult blood in the stool (stool) should be checked. A simple urinalysis is important in screening for bladder cancers. Lung x-ray should be done in screening for lung cancers.
